Transliteration: Kalla waalqamari
No, never! By the moon

Transliteration: Waallayli ith adbara
and by the night when it withdraws,

Transliteration: Waalssubhi itha asfara
and by the morning when it dawns,

Transliteration: Innaha laihda alkubari
this Hell too, is one of the mighty things,

Transliteration: Natheeran lilbashari
a warning to mankind,

Transliteration: Liman shaa minkum an yataqaddama aw yataakhkhara
a warning to every one of you, who desires to go forward, or to lag behind.

Transliteration: Kullu nafsin bima kasabat raheenatun
Every person is a pledge for his own deeds,

Transliteration: Illa ashaba alyameeni
except the people of the right hand,

Transliteration: Fee jannatin yatasaaloona
who shall be in Gardens. There they will ask

Transliteration: AAani almujrimeena
the culprits,

Transliteration: Ma salakakum fee saqara
what has brought you into Hell?

Transliteration: Qaloo lam naku mina almusalleena
They will reply, "We were not of those who offered the salat,

Transliteration: Walam naku nutAAimu almiskeena
and we did not feed the poor,

Transliteration: Wakunna nakhoodu maAAa alkhaideena
and we used to join with those who indulged in idle talk against the Truth,

Transliteration: Wakunna nukaththibu biyawmi alddeeni
and we used to belie the Day of Recompense,

Transliteration: Hatta atana alyaqeenu
till the inevitable overtook us."

Transliteration: Fama tanfaAAuhum shafaAAatu alshshafiAAeena
At that time, no intercession of the intercessors shall avail them anything.

Transliteration: Fama lahum AAani alttathkirati muAArideena
What then is the matter with these people that they are turning away from this Admonition

Transliteration: Kaannahum humurun mustanfiratun
as though they were wild asses

Transliteration: Farrat min qaswaratin
fleeing away from a lion?

Transliteration: Bal yureedu kullu imriin minhum an yuta suhufan munashsharatan
Nay, each one of them desires that he should be sent open letters.

Transliteration: Kalla bal la yakhafoona alakhirata
No, never! The fact is that they do not fear the Hereafter.

Transliteration: Kalla innahu tathkiratun
No, never! This indeed is an Admonition.

Transliteration: Faman shaa thakarahu
So, let him who wills, take heed.

Transliteration: Wama yathkuroona illa an yashaa Allahu huwa ahlu alttaqwa waahlu almaghfirati
But they will never take heed unless Allah so wills. He alone is worthy that he should be feared, and He alone is worthy to forgive (those who fear Him).
