Transliteration: Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Transliteration: Saala sailun biAAathabin waqiAAin
A demander has demanded a torment, which must befall.

Transliteration: Lilkafireena laysa lahu dafiAAun
It is for the disbelievers. There is none to avert it.

Transliteration: Mina Allahi thee almaAAariji
It will come from that God Who is the Owner of the Steps of Ascent.

Transliteration: TaAAruju almalaikatu waalrroohu ilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu khamseena alfa sanatin
The angels and the Spirit ascend to His Presence in a day whose measure is fifty thousand years

Transliteration: Faisbir sabran jameelan
So, have patience, O Prophet, a graceful patience.

Transliteration: Innahum yarawnahu baAAeedan
They think it is far off,

Transliteration: Wanarahu qareeban
but We see it as near at hand.

Transliteration: Yawma takoonu alssamao kaalmuhli
(The torment shall befall on the Day) when the heavens shall be like molten silver,

Transliteration: Watakoonu aljibalu kaalAAihni
and the mountains like carded wool of different colors.

Transliteration: Wala yasalu hameemun hameeman
And no close friend shall ask after his close friend,

Transliteration: Yubassaroonahum yawaddu almujrimu law yaftadee min AAathabi yawmiithin bibaneehi
though they will be shown to each other. To save himself from the torment of that Day, the culprit shall wish to give his children,

Transliteration: Wasahibatihi waakheehi
his wife, his brother,

Transliteration: Wafaseelatihi allatee tuweehi
his kinsfolk who gave him shelter,

Transliteration: Waman fee alardi jameeAAan thumma yunjeehi
and all the people of the earth, in ransom that this device might rescue him.

Transliteration: Kalla innaha latha
No, never! It will be the flame of the blazing Fire,

Transliteration: NazzaAAatan lilshshawa
that will eat up the very flesh.

Transliteration: TadAAoo man adbara watawalla
It shall summon to itself every such person who drew away and turned his back

Transliteration: WajamaAAa faawAAa
and amassed wealth and guarded it jealously.

Transliteration: Inna alinsana khuliqa halooAAan
Indeed, man has been created impatient.

Transliteration: Itha massahu alshsharru jazooAAan
When affliction befalls him, he becomes fretful,

Transliteration: Waitha massahu alkhayru manooAAan
and when good fortune falls to his lot he becomes stingy.

Transliteration: Illa almusalleena
But those people (are an exception) who are the performers of salat.

Transliteration: Allatheena hum AAala salatihim daimoona
Who are steadfast and ever constant in regard to their salat.

Transliteration: Waallatheena fee amwalihim haqqun maAAloomun
In whose wealth there is a due share

Transliteration: Lilssaili waalmahroomi
of the beggar and the needy.

Transliteration: Waallatheena yusaddiqoona biyawmi alddeeni
Who believe in the reality of the Day of Recompense.

Transliteration: Waallatheena hum min AAathabi rabbihim mushfiqoona
Who dread the torment of their Lord.

Transliteration: Inna AAathaba rabbihim ghayru mamoonin
For from the torment of their Lord none can feel secure;

Transliteration: Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona
who guard their private parts.

Transliteration: Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena
Except with regard to their wives and those women who are legally in their possession, for in their case they are not blameworthy,

Transliteration: Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona
but those who go beyond this are indeed transgressors.

Transliteration: Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona
Who keep their trusts and honor their promises.

Transliteration: Waallatheena hum bishahadatihim qaimoona
Who bear true witnesses.

Transliteration: Waallatheena hum AAala salatihim yuhafithoona
And who strictly guard their salat.

Transliteration: Olaika fee jannatin mukramoona
These are they who shall live with honor in the Gardens of Paradise.
