غَرَبَت تَّقرِدُهُم | gharabat taqriduhum | زَالَت تِّلكَ | zalat tilka | كَانَت تّعَمَلُ | kanat taAAmalu | كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ | kanat taAAbudu | كَانَت تّأْتِيهِم | kanat tateehim |
وَدَّت طَّائِفَةٌ | waddat Taifatun | هَمَّت طَّائِفَةً | hammat Taifatan | فَأَمَنَت طَّائِفَةٌ | faamanat Taifatun | وَكَفَرَت طَّائِفَةٌ | wakafarat taifatun | إِذ ذَّهَبَ | ith thahaba |
إِذ ظَّلَمْتُم | ith thalamtum | يَلْهَث ذَّلِكَ | yalhath thalika | قَدَ دَخَلُوا۠ | qada dakhaloo | قَد دَّللُو | qad Dalloo | وَِذكُر رَّبَّكَ | waithkur rabbaka |
تَستَطِع عَّلَيهِ | tastatiAA AAalayhi | يُسرِف فِّي | yusrif fee | أَقُل لَّكُم | aqul lakum | بَل لعََّنَهُمُ | bal laAAanahumu | قَلُوْبِهم مَّرَضٌ | qaloobihm maraDuN |
ءَاذَانِهِم مِّنَ | athanihim mina | عَن نَّفْسٍ | AAn nifsin | تَفعَلُو وَلَن | tafAAaloo walan | عَصَو وَّ كَانُوا۠ | AAasaw wa kanoo | قَد تَّبَيَّنَ | qad tabayyana |
لَقَد تَّقَطَّعَ | laqad taqattaAAa | وَلَقَد ذَرَأْنَا | walaqad tharana | فَقَد ظَلَمَ | faqad thalama | يُرِد ثَوَابَ | yurid thawaba | أَثْقَلَت دَعَوَكَ | athqalat daAAawatukuma |
أُجِيبُت دَعْوَتُكُمَا | ojeebat daAAwatukuma | وَلَقَد زَيَّنَا | Walaqad zayyanna | بَل رَّفَعَهُ | bal rafaAAahu | وَقُل رَّبُّكُمْ | faqul rabbukum | وَٱجْعَل لِّي | waijAAal lee |

Translation:And We showed a favor to Zun-nun (Jonah) Remember when he went away in anger for he thought that We would not take him to task for this. But afterwards he invoked Us from the depths of darkness, saying, "There is no God but Thou: glory be to Thee: I had indeed committed a wrong". |
