Transliteration: Walaqad qala lahum haroonu min qablu ya qawmi innama futintum bihi wainna rabbakumu alrrahmanu faittabiAAoonee waateeAAoo amree
Aaron had already warned the people, saying, "O people, you have been involved in mischief by this (calf) In fact, your Lord is Rahman, so follow me and submit to me."

Transliteration: Qaloo lan nabraha AAalayhi AAakifeena hatta yarjiAAa ilayna moosa
But they replied, "We will go on worshiping it till Moses comes back to us."

Transliteration: Qala ya haroonu ma manaAAaka ith raaytahum dalloo
(After rebuking the people, Moses turned to Aaron) and said,"O Aaron, what prevented you from following my way when you saw that they were going astray?

Transliteration: Alla tattabiAAani afaAAasayta amree
What, did you disobey my command?"

Transliteration: Qala ya bna omma la takhuth bilihyatee wala birasee innee khasheetu an taqoola farraqta bayna banee israeela walam tarqub qawlee
Aaron said, “O son of my mother,do not seize me by my beard nor pull the hair of my head. I was afraid that you might say on your return, “You sowed discord among the Israelites and did not pay due heed to my words!"

Transliteration: Qala fama khatbuka ya samiriyyu
(Then Moses turned to Samiri) and said, "O Samiri, what have you to say about the matter?"

Transliteration: Qala basurtu bima lam yabsuroo bihi faqabadtu qabdatan min athari alrrasooli fanabathtuha wakathalika sawwalat lee nafsee
He replied, "I saw what the people did not see: so I took a handful of dust from the footprints of the Messenger, and sprinkled it (on the calf), for so did my soul prompt me."

Transliteration: Qala faithhab fainna laka fee alhayati an taqoola la misasa wainna laka mawAAidan lan tukhlafahu waonthur ila ilahika allathee thalta AAalayhi AAakifan lanuharriqannahu thumma lanansifannahu fee alyammi nasfan
Moses said, “Well, get away! now you shall have to say throughout your life: “Touch me not" And there is an appointed time for your reckoning which is inevitable. And just have a look at your god which you cherished so much: now We will burn it and shatter it and cast the ashes into the sea."

Transliteration: Innama ilahukumu Allahu allathee la ilaha illa huwa wasiAAa kulla shayin AAilman
O people, your God is Allah alone Who has no other god beside Him: His knowledge embraces everything.

Transliteration: Kathalika naqussu AAalayka min anbai ma qad sabaqa waqad ataynaka min ladunna thikran
O Muhammad, thus do We relate to you the history of the past events, and We have given you an "Admonition" from Our Own Self.

Transliteration: Man aAArada AAanhu fainnahu yahmilu yawma alqiyamati wizran
Whoso will turn away from it, he shall bear a heavy burden of sin on the Day of Resurrection;

Transliteration: Khalideena feehi wasaa lahum yawma alqiyamati himlan
and all such people shall always remain under its heavy burden, and it will be a very heavy responsibility indeed that they shall have to bear on the Day of Resurrection.

Transliteration: Yawma yunfakhu fee alssoori wanahshuru almujrimeena yawmaithin zurqan
On that Day, when the Trumpet will be blown and We will muster the criminals while their eyes shall be dimmed (with terror),

Transliteration: Yatakhafatoona baynahum in labithtum illa AAashran
they will whisper to one another, "You hardly stayed for ten days on the Earth."

Transliteration: Nahnu aAAlamu bima yaqooloona ith yaqoolu amthaluhum tareeqatan in labithtum illa yawman
We know full well what they will be talking; (We also know that) at that time the most careful estimator among them will say, "No, your life on the Earth was but for a day."
